But after ten years of riding the wave, he dropped out of sight spending the 80’s sailing his wooden schooner around the Caribbean. In 1992, his idyllic life came to a crashing halt. For the past 15 years his life has been defined as a caregiver for his brain damaged wife.

Tom Gallant was recently awarded the Margaret & John Savage First Book Award for his A Hard Chance: Sailing Into the Heart of Love (Pottersfield Press, ISBN 1-895900-68-9) at the 2006 Atlantic Book Festival. For more information see: http://www.pottersfieldpress.com/books/hardchance.html
