Vital Levesque was a passionate young caleche-driving separatist in 1969 who believed a revolution would be needed to bring about Quebec independence. Born poor, he set his sights on becoming rich… because with wealth comes personal independence. He lived through the FLQ crisis and the lost referendums. After more than 30 years of nationalist frustration, he’s a successful Quebec City lawyer who still feels separation is inevitable although now through evolution not revolution. His Quebec nationalism has never wavered and he makes no apologies for the economic uncertainty that has driven many businesses and individuals from the province.
Peter Rose and Andy Burr made quite a spectacle of themselves in 1970’s Montreal… the long-haired weirdo architects rubbed a lot of their colleagues the wrong way, particularly when they publicly disparaged what others were designing. Both are award-winning architects today, each living in the United States with their families, where they fled to pursue their careers away from Quebec politics. As alike as they once were, today they come at architecture from completely opposite points of view yet still share a bond forged in 1970’s Quebec.

Peter Rose designed the Canadian Centre of Architecture in Montreal. To see more: http://www.cca.qc.ca/
